Two songs op 34 on erotics poems
Close the window

piano, tenor and mezzo soprano

(January 2006)

These two songs belong to a cycle commissioned by: La Péniche Opéra in France. It was asked to five composers (whose only one woman) to write music on erotic poems chosen in a large range and for a free instrumental group.
The first song: “J’embrasse” (I kiss) is written for a tenor voice. It is based on an erotic poem of Jean- Marie Stricker, who was present at the creation.
It is nearly a recitative, the piano supporting very discreetly the mischievous evocation of the poem; the comprehension of the text remains essential ! The second song: “Volontairement captive” (Determined captive) is written for a mezzo- soprano voice. It is based on a poem of Nicole Gherhardt.
In this second song, the fusion between the piano and the voice is stronger and more intense. The poem is more emotional and less libertine.

The two pitch orders correspond to the pitch order of a contralto voice, version that will be planed for the edition.
This allows to these songs to be given with greed by a larger pitch order !

J’ EMBRASSE

Qui me force et me plie
